The Anglo Mexican Foundation has a long history of providing support for English Language Training. However, this support lacked a focus and in 2000 the decision was taken to set up the Scholarship Programmes to provide support for training teachers of English on courses provided by The Anglo. This focus is closely aligned with the mission of Scholarship Programmes in the Foundation:

The Anglo Mexican Foundation's scholarship programmes make use of Foundation members' educational programmes to provide outstanding opportunities within a British Mexican context to individuals who otherwise would not have access to them.

Since 2000, the Scholarship Programmes have supported 142 teachers on training courses providing a total of over US$112,500 in funding. Funds are provided by The Anglo Mexican Foundation together with sponsorship provided by companies and individuals.

In 2006, 80 teachers will receive support for training courses and the plan is to be able to fund courses for 100 teachers a year.
